Arts For Healing is a community outreach program founded in 2003 by my mentor and internationally acclaimed artist, Gerrit Greve, and co-founded by Ralyn and Nate Wolfstein.
Working with local schools and community centers, Gerrit trains and leads teaching assistants such as myself to mentor under-served youth in the creation of art. The children’s art is then placed in local medical facilities to improve the quality of life, and to aid in the recovery, of the patients. After a period of display the children’s art is auctioned off with the proceeds benefiting the medical facilities as well as the perpetuation of the Arts For Healing program. Buyers of the art works are encouraged to donate the pieces back to these medical institutions to enhance their healing environment.
